Novak Djokovic will compete in the ATP tournament in Basel, as confirmed by the tournament organisers. The event in the Swiss city will take place from 26 October to 1 November, with Djokovic returning to the event after 14 years.
Djokovic has previously competed in Basel three times, between 2009 and 2011. He was the champion in 2009, before reaching the final the following year. He has chosen to request a wildcard for this year’s edition.
Djokovic currently holds 24 grand slam titles. He recently won the title in Beijing, which was his 102nd career trophy. Following that, he was eliminated in the first round of the masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai.
The Serbian is currently placed 11th on the rankings for the ATP Finals, which will take place in Turin from 15 to 22 November. The season-ending event has already seen Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz secure their places, while 15 players have realistic chances for the remaining six spots.
Djokovic will compete in the masters 1000 tournament in Paris the week after Basel.
