The former Czech goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at the age of 64. His former club, West Ham United, confirmed the death and expressed deep sorrow to the deceased player's family.
Miklosko, who made more than 400 appearances, is remembered as one of the club's most loyal players. His presence between the posts was key to many successes, including victories over major rivals.
One of the most famous episodes in his career occurred in 1995, when he saved a match against Manchester United. His save resulted in a 1-1 draw, which prevented United from winning the title and saw Blackburn Rovers take the championship. This episode remains remembered as one of the most dramatic in English football history.
Miklosko also achieved success with other clubs, including Queens Park Rangers, where he played 57 league matches between 1998 and 2001. His professional career was marked by numerous awards, including the 'Ham of the Year' award after West Ham secured promotion to the First Division in the 1990/91 season.
West Ham United, in a gesture of respect, announced that the next home match, against QPR on 9 October, would be dedicated to the memory of Miklosko. This decision reflects deep gratitude and respect for Miklosko's contribution to the club and the community.
