Jarvan’s players defeated Grobničani 3-0 (1-0) in a match of the sixth round of the SuperSport Second League at the NK Jarvan pitch, in front of 150 spectators. The match was officiated by Zvonimir Radinić from Karlovac, with goals scored by Vujanić in the 9th, Miljak in the 54th, and Pavlak in the 84th minute. Mijatović from Jarvan received a yellow card.
The home side took the lead in the eighth minute with a goal by Vujanić, a header from a corner. In the 54th minute, Jarvan increased their lead: Pavlak passed through the right side and played the ball into the centre for the onrushing Miljak. The score of 3-0 was sealed by Pavlak in the 84th minute: he intercepted the ball in the middle of the pitch, exchanged a pass, and then entered the penalty area, sending the ball past the onrushing Legac.
Head coach Miroslav Bojković made his debut with a win at the helm of Jarvan. The impression was that Grobničani had fallen too easily, given that Jarvan did not display such dominance in their play. The squad for Jarvan consisted of Marković, Vujanić, Starčević (75' Vukmanović), Ajayi, Mijatović, Pavlak, Regetaš, Bukovac, Ljevar, Miljak (81' Blažanović), and Katić. The line-up for Grobničan included Legac, Elshin (70' Antunović), Kosić, Srzentić, Mady, Pučić, Batarelo (77' Matković), Smyslov (57' Samateh), Kovačević, Budanović, and Živković (70' Pilčević).
In other matches of the sixth round, Koprivnica lost to Uskok 0-2, H. Dragovoljac lost to Radnik Križevci 0-1, Uljan and Slaven Belupo played out a 3-3 draw, Dugo Selo defeated Inker 3-0, and Belovar and Vartek ended in a 1-1 draw, while Solin defeated Trnje 3-1.
Primorje EBB are set to face their domestic debut in the new season of the Croatian championship, where they will host Šibenik’s Solaris (at 19:00). Primorje EBB started the new season successfully, securing points in Korčula. Ahead of the season, modest expectations were voiced at the Kante site, with the statement 'every point will be highly valued'. This applies to the journey to the island where the KPK was sunk.
The goalkeeper, Antonio Vuković, and his teammates, in this tone, handed over the role of favourite to the Korčula team, but within the water, they took command of the game and the result. The finish was slightly uncertain, but the new captain, Luka Babić, and his team, with three goals, were crowned. Vuković stated: 'Honestly, we did not know what to expect on Korčula.' The brother, Ivan, along with Babić, with three goals, was the best scorer for Primorje EBB.
Vuković stated: 'We are a new and young team. According to the paper projections, we are placed at the bottom of the league, but we will do our best to try to pull out as much as possible. The result from Korčula was, in a way, a surprise.' The constant in the Rijeka club is the proof that the young people are the ones who remain, and the second thing is that Primorje EBB is doing so, with the force of the situation, remaining without players due to limited financial resources. The newly formed team, from the evening of the match, will test their possibilities.
Vuković added: 'In the squad, there are many new, young players, and there is no doubt that it will take a lot of time to get used to the game. This is especially true for the first part of the season. Therefore, I expect that with every new match, it will be better and better. Of course, I hope that we will make a breakthrough in the process.' Solaris, traditionally, is a great rival to Primorje EBB, with no doubt that in the water, the Rijeka pool will be jumped into with great ambition.
Vuković concluded: 'We are facing a very difficult match with Solaris. The Šibenik team has a very good team, an experienced team. They have ambitious goals, this season they are aiming for the top four. We are not the favourites, we are not the favourites, we are entering the match as underdogs. Of course, we will give our all, facing our fans, seeking a better result. We are expecting to have a lot of work to do.'
