Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos have won the title in the doubles event at the Canadian ATP Masters 1000 in Montreal. In the final, they defeated the Croatian-Salvadoran duo of Mate Pavić and Marcel Arévalo 5-7, 6-4, 10-6. For the Brazilian pair, this was their first final at a Masters 1000 tournament, and simultaneously their fourth joint title.
This victory marked the third title for Luz and Matos this season, following trophies in Buenos Aires and Santiago. Montreal was the first time the pair had played in a final on hard court. In the deciding tie-break, the Brazilian pair played better in the second half of the match and took a 5-1 lead, which secured their final victory.
Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arévalo, who won the first set of the final, remained at eight joint titles. Prior to the final, the Croatian-Salvadoran duo had not lost a set in Montreal. This defeat means they remain at four joint titles in Masters 1000 tournaments.
For Pavić and Arévalo, this was their 15th final on the ATP Tour. Mate Pavić played in his 80th final on the ATP Tour, confirming his status as one of the more experienced players in the doubles field.
