The fifth edition of the Paklena Regatta, a sailing race organised by the Zvir Sailing Club (Jedriličarski klub Zvir), will take place in front of Hvar town on Saturday, 31 October. The start is scheduled for 10:00, and entries for participants are open until 18:00 on Friday.

The race is distinguished by its route, which passes between the islands, islets and rocks of the Pakleni Islands. Participants are required to sail through numerous sea channels, adjusting their navigation to the layout of the islets and rocks in the area. It is precisely this route that makes the regatta specific compared to conventional sailing competitions.

Spectators will be able to follow the yachts as they pass between the Pakleni Islands. The participation of traditional boats has also been announced; they will sail among the Pakleni Islands, a move by the organisers intended to remind people of the maritime tradition of Hvar and Dalmatia.

Last year’s fourth edition of the Paklena Regatta attracted 25 cruisers, and organisers hope for a good turnout this year as well. The regatta is held at the end of October, outside the main tourist season, when Hvar has significantly fewer visitors than during the summer.

Organisers emphasise that such sporting events can contribute to the island’s tourist offer during the autumn months.
