The women's water polo team of ŽAVK Mladost won the Super Cup, defeating Split-based Jadran 16-9. With this victory, the Zagreb side replicated the success of Mladost's men's team, which also won the Super Cup last Friday in Bjelovar. The water polo Super Cup trophies for this season have thus been reserved for Mladost.
The question of the winners was settled in the first half of the match. Mladost led 6-1 midway through the second quarter, practically securing a convincing victory at Poljud. The Zagreb side celebrated convincingly, and Jadran failed to seriously threaten their win.
Ria Glas from Mladost was named the most valuable player of the Super Cup, having scored six goals. Tonia Tadić also stood out with the same tally of six goals, being the most prolific player for the Split side.
Jadran entered the match significantly weakened. The Split players could not count on Turkish player Colak due to visa issues, nor on the ill Ukrainian Čepička. Jadran's squad was also without Magdalena Butić, who moved to Italy, while Mišić, Barišić and Bradašić could not train regularly with the team due to other commitments. Problems with the playing squad particularly affected Jadran's attacking play.
Exactly one week later in Split, the women's water polo team of ŽAVK Mladost dismantled Jadran, confirming the dominance of the Zagreb club in this season's Super Cup.
