Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix, securing his first victory of the season. The British driver finished ahead of Max Verstappen, who took second place, and Kimi Antonelli in third. Charles Leclerc finished fourth, while Lewis Hamilton was classified in fifth place after receiving a penalty.
Ferrari’s drivers were among the leaders who started on soft tyres, while George Russell had the worst start of the race, dropping from seventh to 18th. Hamilton, in the 14th lap, was the first of the leaders to switch to hard tyres. In the 16th lap, Verst, who had dropped back, retaken the position from Hamilton.
Oscar Piastri led the race in the first phase, but retired in the 57th lap due to a gearbox failure. Norris expressed frustration to the radio, believing that an earlier pit stop would have given him the advantage. In the 40th lap, Norris emerged from the pit lane ahead of Piastri, but later had contact with Carlos Sainz, which cost him time.
The key moment of the race occurred in the 46th lap, when Norris overtook Kimi Antonelli and took the lead. Following Piastri’s retirement, the virtual safety car was deployed. Hamilton, while exiting the pit lane, overtook Antonelli, but had to return the position. In the 67th lap, Hamilton received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
The final standings show a difference of a few seconds: Norris won, with Verst, 15.080 seconds behind, Antonelli 18,728, Leclerc 23,840, and Hamilton 24,540. Among the other drivers, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas retired. Kimi Antonelli, with this race, increased his lead in the championship to 50 points ahead of Hamilton.
