Paris Saint-Germain defeated Lyon 2-0 in the round eight derby of the French league played at the Parc des Princes. The victory gave the Parisians first place in Ligue 1 with 17 points.

Both goals for the hosts were scored by players who came off the bench. Senny Mayulu replaced Ferran Torres in the 66th minute and opened the scoring six minutes later. Mika Godts came on in the 58th minute for João Neves and made it 2-0 in the 84th minute. Godts thus finished the match with a goal and an assist, as he was involved in the play leading to the first goal.

For the first goal, Lucas Hernández joined the build-up, and Godts received the ball on the left side and found Mayulu, who hit the near post of the Lyon goal.

In the first half, Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche and Désiré Doué were dangerous, while the visiting goalkeeper Dominik Greif reacted well on several occasions. Lyon missed their best chance in the 32nd minute when a shot by Julien Duranville following an Ernest Nuamah run was saved by PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. Safonov soon stopped a Zachary Athekame attempt as well.

The match was originally scheduled for Sunday but was postponed to Monday for security reasons and protests in Paris. Paris police banned the holding of the match in the originally scheduled time.

Rennes are second in the table with 16 points, while Lille and Monaco have 15 each. Lyon remained on 14 points after the defeat and are in fifth place. In the next round, PSG travel to Le Havre, while Lyon host Angers.
