Over the past few days, the connection of buildings to the new fibre-optic network has begun on the islands of Pašman and Ugljan. The Pašman municipality is the project lead, and the work involves the construction of a broadband fibre-optic network on these two islands.
The project is co-financed by European Union funds and covers addresses in so-called white areas. White areas are defined as areas where internet with a nominal speed of at least 30 Mbit/s is currently not available.
The broadband infrastructure development project will build a modern fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) access network in the so-called NGA white areas of the municipalities of Preko, Kali, Kukljica, Pašman and Tkon. This covers several island municipalities in the Zadar archipelago area.
Currently, the distribution phase is underway on the island of Pašman. This phase involves laying cable networks along specific streets, creating the preconditions for connecting end users to the new infrastructure.
Works on the island of Ugljan are expected to begin in early November, marking a new stage in the project's implementation. The construction of the FTTH network in white areas will enable high-speed internet access in locations that have previously lacked adequate broadband coverage.
