On the eve of the 28 September meeting of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja and Srem, contracts for water management investment projects were signed. Among them is the contract for the 'Construction of part of the water supply and drainage system in the area of the cities of Požega, Pakrac and Lipik', for which the beneficiary is Tekia d.o.o. Požega.

The contract was taken over by the technical director of Tekia d.o.o., Krešimir Prpić, from the State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, Anja Bagarić, and the general director of Croatian Waters, Zoran Đuroković, in the presence of the mayor of Požega and majority shareholder of Tekia d.o.o., Prof. Dr. Borislav Miličević, the mayor of Pakrac, Tomislav Novinc, and the mayor of Lipik, Vinko Kasan.

The project is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The total estimated value of the project is 4,135,074.56 euros including VAT, while the estimated eligible costs are 3,308,059.65 euros. The approved financial contribution is a maximum of 2,646,447.72 euros, or 80 per cent of eligible expenditure.

A particular part of the project for the City of Požega concerns the construction of a water supply network in the suburban settlement of Komušina. Works in Komušina are underway since the summer and are now approaching completion. The project includes the construction of nearly four kilometres of water supply network, ten hydrants, and the preparation of 25 household connections. The value of the contracted works is 494,923.05 euros excluding VAT.

By the construction of the water supply network, high-quality and reliable water supply will be provided to the residents of Komušina, and the completion of this intervention is important for the continuation of the settlement's infrastructure development. Mayor Miličević highlighted that Komušina is one of the concrete examples of investment in the quality of life of residents in the suburban areas of Požega.

"By taking a systematic approach and using available European and national funds, we can address infrastructure that is vital to citizens. The water supply network is already being built and the works are close to completion, after which the road will be renovated. Our goal is to provide high-quality basic infrastructure to all residents of Požega, including our suburban settlements, and equal conditions for life," said Mayor Miličević.
