The China International Industry Fair (CIIF) has seen the unveiling of the Neo1, a heavy hybrid humanoid robot with a 500kg payload capacity, developed jointly by Neodra Dynamics and JD Industrial. The robot is designed for work in the most demanding and hazardous industrial conditions.

The Neo1 is a hybrid hydraulic-electric humanoid robot standing at an impressive four metres. It is designed to perform complex industrial tasks in the so-called '4D' categories: dangerous, dirty, heavy, and monotonous.

The model addresses the limitations of purely electric humanoid robots, which face constraints in terms of power, payload, impact resistance, and durability in extreme environments. Previous electric robots have largely been limited to demonstrations in laboratories or simple service roles. The hybrid drive technology developed by Neodra combines the power and robustness of hydraulics with the high precision of electric drives.

The robot is equipped with 41 degrees of freedom. In the Neo1 robot, 39 main joints use miniature hydraulic linear actuators weighing just one kilogram each, while the two rotational joints in the forearms are electric. Each actuator generates a continuous thrust of approximately one ton, enabling a two-handed payload capacity of 500kg with a positioning repeatability of ±0.005mm.

This combination of power and precision allows for stable operation in 'aerial' inspections, yet is also applicable in mining and deep-sea engineering projects. In heavy industry, the Neo1 is intended for assembling heavy components and handling cargo in ports, with hydraulic modules enabling the safe handling of fuel and maintenance of equipment. The impact-resistant structure, protected against contamination, ensures effective operations in demolition, clearance, and hazardous zone work, as well as in high-pressure environments, such as underwater.
