Serious maintenance issues have been identified on the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, leading to deteriorating living conditions for the crew. According to reports from Military Times and Stars and Stripes, the ship has reported shortages of food and faults in the plumbing system. In addition to technical issues, clear signs of fatigue have been observed among the sailors.
The deployment of this warship began on 11 December, set against the backdrop of broader US-Iran tensions. The situation on board has raised concerns among the families of the sailors, who have expressed fear for the worsening mental health of their loved ones during the mission.
Jonny Burnell, a veteran, provided insight into the harsh conditions to which the sailors are exposed. Burn served for 111 days on the USS Vinson, where he worked as a naval photographer. During that period, which lasted more than three months, he participated in operations during the 2001 war in Afghanistan.
The experiences of former crew members serve as a warning of the potential risks associated with long deployments. As technical faults and hygiene issues on the USS Ab Lincoln are addressed, concern remains high regarding the physical and mental state of the crew within military circles.
