The Business Voices association has announced a protest against government measures it considers harmful, with the final trigger for the protest being the decision on so-called fixed prices. The protest is scheduled for the beginning of October, around 10 October.
According to the rule on fixed prices, traders and service providers from 1 October must clearly, visibly and legibly display an additional price alongside the current price of the product or service.
Lana Šiljeg from the Business Voices association explained on N1 Television that business people are protesting against a series of decisions and the overall model of their decision-making, which, in her view, does not benefit small business owners. Šiljeg believes that the introduction of fixed prices is a repressive measure that violates market freedom.
Šiljeg stated that business people are exposed to various pressures and that unpredictable decisions by the government create additional stress. She added that they have undergone inspections during the summer which, in their view, are disproportionate and do not pay enough attention to the success and sustainability of business people. She noted that there is a tax on flat-rate taxpayers, which has not yet been resolved.
Šiljeg stated that more than 95 per cent of their comments in the e-consultations were not accepted. She also stated that a protest had taken place in Gospić.
According to her, they have the support of pensioners, students and citizens. She stated that the state must offer concessions, not just levies, and concluded: "We are not a state ATM."
