Brod-Posavina County has taken key steps to improve social care, simultaneously adopting the social plan for the period from 2025 to 2027. As part of these measures, the county president, Danijel Marušić, signed a contract with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, securing funding to provide specific services to vulnerable groups across the county.
A key component of this initiative is the provision of free, adapted transport for people with disabilities, the elderly, and those in need of assistance with mobility. The service is provided via a specialized vehicle equipped with a ramp for the easy access of wheelchair users, ensuring the safety and dignity of passengers during travel.
The organisation of transport is based on pre-prepared requests, with a transport schedule drawn up that takes into account the individual needs of users, including their health condition, scheduled appointments or therapies, and the distance to the destination. It is planned that between 100 and 150 transport trips will be carried out in one year, with the exact number depending on the specific needs of users, the distance to the destination, and the duration of individual trips.
This measure is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing the accessibility of health, social, and public services. The goal is not only to facilitate daily functioning but also to reduce social isolation for users, contributing to greater independence in daily life and ensuring equal access to necessary services for all citizens.
