The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) has issued yellow warnings for stormy winds across four key areas in northern Croatia. This precautionary measure covers the Kvarner, the Velebit Channel, the Istrian coast and the Rijeka region, where strong winds are expected that could cause minor disruptions to daily life and traffic.

On the Kvarner and Velebit Channel, the yellow warning for stormy winds is valid for the entire day. More precisely, the period from 00:01 on 23 August to 23:59 on 23 August is subject to these weather conditions. Visitors and residents in these areas should exercise caution, particularly in exposed parts of the coast and in open spaces.

For the Istrian coast, a slightly shorter timeframe applies to the warning. The yellow alert is active from midnight on 23 August until 11:00 on the same day. This means that strong winds will be most pronounced in the morning, with the situation gradually easing by midday.

In the Rijeka region, the situation is similar to that in Istria, but with an earlier end to the warning. The yellow warning for stormy winds is valid from 00:01 on 23 August until 09:00. The early morning is therefore the most critical period for residents of Rijeka and its surroundings, after which weather conditions are expected to normalise.
