Police officers from the Osijek-Baranja Police Department recorded a total of three road traffic participants driving under the influence of alcohol yesterday. Among the persons criminally charged is one car driver and two cyclists, indicating a broader scope of traffic offences related to alcohol intoxication in this county.
The highest concentration of alcohol was established at 17:05 in Valpovo, where police officers stopped a 65-year-old car driver. Breathalyser testing revealed that the driver had 2.24 per mille of alcohol in his blood, which represents a significant exceedance of the permitted limit and a serious offence recorded during the control.
Given the high level of intoxication, an infringement notice will be issued against the 65-year-old man. The fine he must pay amounts to 1,320 euros, which is one of the highest penalty measures for such offences. In addition to the financial sanction, proceedings for the imposition of protective measures will be initiated against the driver.
The court will impose a protective measure banning him from driving category B motor vehicles for a period of three months. Furthermore, six negative penalty points will be recorded in his file, further complicating his legal position and ability to drive in the future until the points are cleared.
