Police officers from the Osječko-Baranja Police Directorate recorded a total of three road traffic participants driving under the influence of alcohol during the day. Among the persons charged were one driver of a car and two cyclists, indicating a broader scope of traffic offences related to alcohol consumption in the county.
The highest alcohol level was recorded at 17:05 in Valpovo, where police officers stopped a 65-year-old driver. Breath testing revealed that the driver had 2.24 per mille of alcohol in their blood, which represents a significant excess of the permitted limit and a serious offence recorded during the control.
Given the high level of intoxication, a fine notice is to be issued against the 65-year-old. The fine to be paid amounts to €1,320, which is one of the highest penalties for such offences. In addition to the financial penalty, a procedure for imposing protective measures will be initiated against the driver.
The court will impose a protective measure banning the driving of motor vehicles in category B for a period of three months. In addition, six negative points will be recorded against the driver in the register, further complicating their legal position and ability to drive in the future until the points are removed.
