A 27-year-old woman from Osijek set several negative records in committing traffic offences. In the last three years, she was stopped by police 13 times while driving, despite never having passed a driving test, for which she received 36 negative points.

Officers from the first police station in Osijek, with a branch in Čepin, stopped her during a traffic check on 25 September at 21:31. It was established that she was driving a car despite not having a licence, and that she had accumulated 36 negative points over the years, some of which were still awaiting final determination. Due to the accumulated points, a decision is in force against her stating that for two years she cannot submit an application for the issue of a driving licence.

The relevant court had previously imposed a protective measure of a driving ban for two years. However, following the latest stop, the court showed no leniency. The 27-year-old was arrested and the vehicle she was driving was temporarily confiscated.

At the Municipal Court in Osijek, in the relevant department, she was sentenced to eight days in prison by an interim judgment. The vehicle was permanently confiscated and handed over to the Ministry of the Interior, meaning the owner of the car is now the Croatian state.

The police justify the driving ban for a person who has not passed a driving test by noting that it is not excluded that such a person, due to work obligations, might need to take a driving test. If she were to pass one day, with the date of issue of the driving licence, it would be stored in the police drawer for another two years.

On the same day, other traffic offences were recorded in the area of the Osijek-Baranja Police Directorate. Officers stopped a car driven by a 44-year-old man, and an inspection of the records revealed that his driving licence had been revoked due to accumulated negative points. As he did not have an identity card or other document with a photograph to prove his identity, he faces a fine of 1,360 to 2,690 euros, up to 60 days in prison, and a new driving ban for six months.

In Đakovo, a 45-year-old woman was stopped on Wednesday around 21:30, driving a car with Vukovar registration plates before she had acquired the right to independently drive a motor vehicle. The penalty for her was a fine of 1,320 euros, a driving ban for three months, and six negative points. Around 21:40, a 57-year-old man was driving a car with Vinkovci registration plates and refused a test for alcohol and drugs, so he ended up in the police station. He was fined 1,240 euros, received a protective measure banning him from driving vehicles of category B for six months, and received six negative points.

On the territory of the Osijek-Baranja Police Directorate, five traffic accidents were recorded yesterday. Two occurred in the area of the Police Station Osijek, and one each in the areas of the police stations of Beli Manastir, Belišće, and Našić. In two accidents, two people were slightly injured, while in three accidents, material damage occurred. During the control, three drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol – one in a personal car and two on bicycles. The highest level of alcohol was found in a personal car at 3:50 am, when a 26-year-old woman driving a personal car was stopped with 1.23 per mille of alcohol in her system. For driving under the influence of alcohol, she faces a fine of 660 euros, a protective measure banning her from driving a vehicle of category B for three months, and four negative points.
