A fire broke out on the island of Brač, requiring intensive engagement from fire services. Four tankers are involved in the operation, with the key part of the operation being the defensive line aimed at protecting the settlement. The settlement of Milna was successfully defended from the spread of fire, which represents a significant success in coordinated efforts.
Firefighters were on the ground from 23:00 to 03:30, during which they actively protected houses from direct contact with flames. Due to the risk of the fire spreading, a total of 227 people were evacuated. Evacuated citizens were accommodated in safe buildings, primarily in the sports hall in Supetar, the pastoral centre in Postira, and the area of Bol, where they found temporary accommodation.
During the operation, minor health issues were recorded, primarily due to inhaling smoke. One person was treated medically, while the remaining cases were milder. There were no serious injuries among the evacuated people, which is an important feature of the successfully conducted evacuation operation despite the tension created by the circumstances.
At the scene of the fire, where the bura wind is present, the situation is gradually stabilising. There are no new open fire sources, which indicates that the fire is under control, although the presence of wind continues to require caution. Local residents have praised the work of the firefighters, recognising their effort and professionalism in difficult conditions of firefighting and property protection.
Given the stabilisation of the situation, there is no need for new evacuations. Citizens who spent the night in cars waiting for further instructions can now follow the development of the situation through official information channels. Although the night was spent in tension, the coordinated effort of experts allowed the crisis situation to be resolved without major consequences for people's health.
