The chief fire officer, Slavko Tucaković, has issued a decision to launch additional interventions to combat the uncontrolled fire on the island of Brač. This measure follows an escalation in the situation, with additional forces, including those from outside the immediate area, being deployed. A specific note highlights that firefighters from the Istria county are involved in the operation, thereby boosting the capacity to respond to the crisis.

Firefighters are currently located at the fire education and technology development centre in Split, where they have been temporarily stationed. From this base, firefighters will be deployed according to actual needs on the ground, ensuring an optimal distribution of personnel and equipment for fire suppression. This flexibility is key to effective firefighting, given that the fire is in a dynamic phase.

The fire broke out on Thursday evening, specifically between the settlements of Ložišća and Drač. Given that it is a rapidly spreading fire, the situation remains tense. According to the latest information, the fire is in a fully developed stage, meaning the flames are spreading at a high speed and the intervention is extremely demanding. Firefighters are facing difficult conditions, including heat and dryness, which further complicates the extinguishing process.

Special attention is being directed to the area of Podhum, where the fire is approaching the settlement. Although the situation is serious, firefighters continue to work, utilising all available resources to protect property and lives. It is important to note that the situation is being monitored continuously, and all measures are being adjusted to current conditions to minimise damage and ensure the safety of the population.
