Firefighters from the Dalmatia region have been mobilised to support the fight against a large fire that has spread to Croatian territory. The fire, which originated from cross-border movement from neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, engulfed the area around Bosanski Grahov, with the fire spreading to Croatian territory on 14 August. This situation requires coordinated action by multiple fire brigades to prevent the fire from spreading further to new areas.
In response to the developing situation, two specialised teams were deployed. One team is from the Fire Department (JVP) in Sinj, while the other team arrived from the Volunteer Fire Department (DVD) in Trilj. In addition to these teams, the fire brigade of the DVD in Vrlika is also involved, ensuring a broader scope of intervention in the difficult terrain.
Given the specific conditions, the fire is an extremely difficult task to tackle. The terrain is challenging, making the movement and operation of fire brigades difficult. Despite the involvement of aerial forces assisting in suppressing the fire, the situation remains highly challenging. Firefighters from the JVP in Sinj report that the fire has not yet spread to the Split-Dalmatia County, but the situation is being monitored continuously to prevent its spread in unforeseen directions.
