The Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Assets has issued consent for the final draft of the third amendments to the Korčula City Spatial Plan. This was announced by Mayor Frano Jerić. The amendments are awaiting final adoption by the City Council before entering into force.
The consent confirms that the plan was prepared in accordance with the law. There are no legal obstacles to the final adoption, the mayor said in a post on Facebook, noting that one of the most significant steps in the process, which has been ongoing for months, has now been completed.
The mayor described the spatial plan as one of the most important documents for the development of the city. It determines the direction of development in the coming years, and without it, many projects cannot start or be completed. By adopting the amendments, he said, the conditions are created for a number of infrastructure and development projects that have been waiting for years.
"We can now open a new chapter in Korčula's development and start the projects that our citizens have been waiting for for a long time," the mayor wrote. He thanked the counsellors, the spatial planning team, and the experts who brought the document to its final stage.
The city does not plan to stop there. Immediately after the adoption, preparations will begin for the fourth set of amendments to the spatial plan. These, the mayor said, have been "knocking on the door" for some time.
