The summer admissions period for secondary schools in the Sisa-Moslavina County has concluded, with 1,135 students securing places in their first year. The Economic School in Sisak was the only one to fill all its available places during the summer term.
With 66 students enrolled, the local school closed admissions for the occupations of business economy assistant and administrative assistant. Significant interest was also shown at the Novska Secondary School, the Sisak Gymnasium, the technical schools in Sisak and Kutina, and the Tina Ujevic Secondary School in Kutina, where, after the admission of 91 students, only one place remained available.
The largest school in the county by student numbers, the Sisak Secondary School, enrolled 132 students in programmes for hairdressers, chefs, nurses, and technical assistants, as well as sales assistants, confectioners, and waiters. The technical school in Kutina attracted 105 new students.
Interest in digital fields is also growing. The course for video game developers at the Sisak Technical School was attended by 23 students, and a similar course in Novska by 21. Seventeen students opted for the course in robotics and automation, a programme unique to this school in Croatia.
A total of 101 students were admitted to the Sisak Gymnasium. The general track recorded a record 66 enrolments, while all 22 places in the sports gymnasium, introduced following the school's modernisation, were filled.
Students who did not secure a place during the summer term have a new opportunity in late August, when the final ranking list with available places at schools is published for the autumn term.
The admission results follow significant investment by the county in school infrastructure. Buildings of secondary schools in Glina and Sisak have been restored following the earthquake, and a new school building has been provided for Petrinja. The technical school in Kutina is currently undergoing energy renovation, and a new building is being constructed for the Economic School in Sisak — the first purpose-built facility for the school.
