Joshua Loudermilk, a 54-year-old aspiring actor from North Carolina, has stated that he was part of a joke in the new film Ali G: Who Iz I?, but that the filmmakers did not understand it. Loudermilk told the Guardian that he was among two men whom the film apparently discredited.

According to Loudermilk, he recognised star Sacha Baron Cohen early in the filming process. Rather than being fooled, he decided to outsmart the film crew himself. "They won't fool me. I will fool him," Loudermilk was quoted as saying.

Loudermilk continued to pretend to be a die-hard MAGA supporter willing to defend the American border at all costs. He said suspicions first arose during the filming of a scene involving a rifle with a removable plastic stock. "You're going to put the stock on the butt? You can't run in that," Loudermilk stated.

Despite this, Loudermilk claims he stayed in character and continued to participate in the filming. His goal, he says, was to outwit the director and the lead actor. The film Ali G: Who Iz I? thus received a twist the creators did not expect, according to him.

Loudermilk clarified to the Guardian that his involvement in the project was meant to be a joke, but that the film production took it seriously. He claims he used the opportunity to show that he is not gullible. His statement casts new light on how participants experienced the filming of this film.
