The fourth Požega, City of Chess International Chess Tournament will officially open on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at 10:30. The opening ceremony will take place in the Tomislav Pribić Sports Hall, where the tournament will also be held.

The tournament is organised by the Požega Chess Club, operating under the patronage of the City of Požega. Ten grandmasters have confirmed their participation, giving the tournament a distinctly international character.

Among the main stars and favourites are Croatian national team players Ante Brkić and Leon Livić. The field also includes former European champion Zdenko Kož and the defending champion Mladen Palac, who will attempt to defend last year’s title.

The tournament will be played in a Swiss system over nine rounds. The time control is 10 minutes per player, with a five-second increment added for each move. The first round is scheduled to begin at 11:00, following the opening ceremony.

The entire tournament will be rated on the official FIDE rating list, meaning the results will affect the players' ratings. Entry for all spectators is free, and the live progress of the tournament, including the current standings, can be followed via the global chess platform Chess-Results.
