Rijeka will, from 23 to 25 October, host the international U18 Adidas Next Gen EuroLeague Rijeka 2026, one of the more significant tournaments for young basketball players. The tournament will take place at the Zamet Centre, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 22 October.

Young basketball talents, coaching staff, and club representatives from several European countries will arrive in Rijeka. The Adidas Next Gen EuroLeague brings together some of the most promising young basketball players and clubs, and the Rijeka edition of the tournament will further enrich the city’s sports calendar.

The tournament was presented at a press conference, at which the Deputy of the Primorsko-Goranska County, Robert Matić, took part. The organisers are placing particular emphasis on the inclusion of children and young people through collaboration with primary and secondary schools.

Students will have the opportunity to witness first-class basketball played by young players, experience an international sporting environment, and further engage with the values of sport and a healthy lifestyle. In this way, as the organizers point out, the development of young athletes and international sporting cooperation is further encouraged.

The organization of the competition at the Zamet Centre is an opportunity to promote Rijeka and the Primorsko-Goranska County as hosts of international sporting events, thereby further enhancing the visibility of the region on the European sports map.
