On Wednesday, 29 July, the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) will hold an election meeting. During this session, the national sports body will elect a new president, marking a contest for the highest office in the Croatian Olympic movement.
One of the candidates for the position is Dragan Primorac, a prominent scientist and doctor currently serving as president of the Croatian Taekwondo Federation. Primorac was elected to the federation's presidency in April 2026, having previously served as vice-president of the organisation.
His professional background is marked by deep involvement in health-related commissions of various sports federations. Primorac is a member of the Council of the Croatian Olympic Committee and the Health Commission of the COC. Additionally, he has served as president of the health commission of the Croatian Volleyball Federation since 2024.
He has gained international experience through membership in the health commission of the World Taekwondo Federation and as a member of the council of the European Taekwondo Union. In June 2025, he was re-elected to the Health and Anti-Doping Commission of the European Olympic Committees for a term from 2025 to 2029.
Primorac has also played a significant role in Croatian football, where he served as president of the health commission of the Croatian Football Federation from 2019 to 2021. He currently works as a scientific and health advisor to the president of the Croatian Football Federation (HNS).
