HP has moved its most powerful Omen laptop under the HyperX brand, with the new model named the HyperX Omen Max 16. The successor to last year's Max 16 model comes with a new Arrow Lake processor and, according to available data, the most powerful graphics card on offer.
The laptop relies on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, which can deliver 175 W of power. This is aided by a larger power adapter. The heart of the system is an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor with 24 cores — eight performance (P) and 16 energy-efficient (E) cores. It is accompanied by 32 GB LPDDR5 memory and a 1 TB SSD, running Windows 11.
The display is a 16-inch OLED with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Response time is 0.02 milliseconds, and the panel supports G-Sync. A restart is required to switch between the integrated and dedicated graphics cards. The OLED panel brightness is 600 cd/m2, while maximum brightness reaches 1100 cd/m2, with support for HDR display. The screen covers 100% of the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spectra.
The chassis is aluminium, slightly larger than before, with a total weight of 2.97 kg and dimensions of 365.5 × 269 × 28.75 mm. The rear end is thicker and features large cooling vents, while an RGB strip runs around the base of the chassis. The HyperX logo is located on the screen lid. The sides around the screen have thin bezels, while the thicker frame above the screen houses a 1080p webcam with an IR sensor. The laptop is available in two colour variants: Shadow Black (matte black) and Ceramic White.
The keyboard includes a numeric keypad, per-key adjustable RGB backlighting, full-size arrow keys and NKRO anti-ghosting technology. A touchpad is located below the keyboard, and stereo speakers handle audio. In terms of connectivity, it features Intel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, one HDMI 2.1 port, two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4, power delivery, DisplayPort 2.1), two USB-A ports, a 3.5 mm audio jack and Ethernet. Battery life exceeds 7 hours when using the integrated graphics card.
The laptop is priced at €5,357.00 and comes with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
