OnePlus has officially unveiled the new OnePlus 16, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. Although it features a range of top-tier specifications, the device will not officially reach the European market.

The reason for this is OnePlus's decision, made in July this year, to withdraw from the European and North American markets. This decision was made as part of a broader restructuring by parent company Oppo, with OnePlus focusing primarily on the Chinese market. Customers in Europe can therefore consider importing the device via specialised retailers such as TradingShenzhou and similar websites, but the import comes with compromises regarding software, warranty, and potential compatibility with mobile networks.

The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,272 by 2,772 pixels and a density of around 450 PPI. The refresh rate goes up to 185Hz, but in everyday use the display supports up to 165Hz, with the maximum 185Hz activating only in supported games. The panel uses BOE's X4 luminescent material, has a minimum brightness of one nit, and the bezels around the screen are just 1.15 millimetres thick. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is located beneath the screen.

The rear camera system consists of three cameras. The main sensor is 200MP, with a 1/1.4-inch size, featuring PDAF and OIS. There is also a 50MP telephoto camera with three times optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera has 50MP. The device comes with at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with the top configuration offering 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space. Available combinations are 12/256GB, 12/512GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB.

The battery has a capacity of 9,000mAh, along with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The OnePlus 16 does not have a headphone jack, but has a USB-C port. The durability is IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. Dimensions are 161.4 x 76.7 x 8.45-8.55mm, with a weight of 217-220g. Connectivity includes GSM, HSPA, LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS, and an infrared port. The device runs Android 17, specifically ColorOS 17, which replaces the OxygenOS found in previous global OnePlus models.

The OnePlus 16 is available in three colours: Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. It will go on sale in China on 31 October, with the launch date set for 13 October 2026. The base configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs 5,999 yuan, or approximately 800 euros, while the most expensive model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage costs 8,499 yuan, or approximately 1,135 euros.
