A serious rail accident occurred in the East Sussex region when a passenger train derailed on the section between Haywards Heath and Lewes. The incident resulted in injuries to several passengers and significant disruption to rail services in the area.
According to available information, two passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash. An additional nine people sustained minor injuries, which are expected to be treated on the spot or at nearby medical facilities. Emergency services responded quickly to the call and arrived at the scene to assist the injured.
Visual records from the scene reveal a dramatic scene where passengers are seen standing on the roofs of overturned carriages. Other passengers were seen nearby, in a bush-covered area, where they were attempting to move away from the danger zone or waiting for help alongside emergency responders.
The crash caused major disruptions to rail services. Passenger services on that section were suspended following the derailment, leading to delays and cancellations for passengers who had planned to travel along that corridor.
