The fire that engulfed the area of Omiš resulted in one fatality and caused significant material damage. The tragedy sparked deep fear among the local population, and the consequences were also felt by healthcare facilities in the region. A total of 40 patients affected by the events in the area were admitted to the Split University Hospital (KBC Split).

Josip Banović, a doctor at the Split University Hospital, commented directly on the condition of the patients brought in from the Omiš area. According to him, the medical staff faced one of the most difficult shifts in the hospital’s history. Banović stated that doctors and nurses had dealt with exceptionally demanding situations, describing the events as unlike anything they had experienced before.

In the afternoon, Banović posted a message on social media expressing his pride in his colleagues and praising the staff at the Split University Hospital. He attached a photo taken that morning, in which the exhaustion of the medical team is clearly visible. At the same time, the image reflects the incredible dedication shown by healthcare providers during the crisis.

The atmosphere in the hospital was highly charged with emotion. Banović noted that patients were going through shock, while the staff worked without pause, driven by the need to help. The entire team was deeply affected by the tragedy that struck the neighbouring town of Omiš, which further marked this period of intense work and emotional strain.
