The State Judicial Council (Državno sudbeno vijeće) held its 13th session, with a member of the Zadar judiciary on the agenda. This concerns Judge Tina Grgas, whose disciplinary measure has been extended for the 13th time, according to the Council's latest announcement.

Tina Grgas, a judge at the Commercial Court in Zadar, has had her temporary removal from judicial duties extended for a further three months, calculated from 19 November 2026. Her last suspension was issued on 19 August this year, and the Council imposes suspensions every three months due to a theft charge. The judge has thus been under suspension for years.

According to the indictment, a shop assistant caught her in the act. The Split County State Attorney's Office filed an indictment against her on 13 January 2023, on suspicion that in August and September 2022 in Zadar, in the shop of a trading company within a shopping centre, she took advantage of staff inattention on two occasions to take various clothing items. She removed security tags and protection from the clothing items, then hid and carried them away, causing the trading company total damage of 2,012.07 kuna (267.04 euros).

A trial has already been held in Split, in which the Zadar judge was acquitted of the clothing theft charge. The judge defended herself by stating she had not stolen the clothes, but that a misunderstanding had occurred as she had no intention of stealing the items found in her bag. However, the verdict was overturned by a decision of the County Court in Šibenik.

The County Court in Šibenik is requesting further examination of the circumstances of the act for which the Zadar judge was charged, primarily the testimony of witnesses in the shop. Until that procedure is concluded, Judge Grgas remains removed from judicial duties.
