At the meeting of the Vrbovec City Council held on Wednesday, council member Damir Fašaić (HDZ) posed questions to Mayor Deni Kralj regarding the reports of municipal companies and road safety.

Fašaić stated that he would raise the same question he had previously raised, concerning the reports of the companies, primarily referring to the reports of Komunalac, Gradski Objects, and Radio Vrbovac. He pointed out that there are five technical points on the City Council agenda which will be concluded very quickly, and that this was an ideal opportunity to discuss the companies owned by the municipality. He added that the people are interested in this and that stories are being heard that something may not be right with the company.

According to Fašaić, stories are circulating that workers in the municipal utility have not adequately prepared for the work, and that the renovation of the Fran Krsto Frankopan street, which was carried out two or three times, has resulted in high costs for the company. He stressed that he does not know if this is true or not, but that it would be good to receive some information about the work of the company. He also stated that the president of the council is employed in the municipal utility, and that it would be good if he shared the information with the council members. He asked how the season had gone in Nerezine, how much was earned, and how many guests there were.

Fašaić recalled that these were questions that the mayor, when he was a council member, had posed to the former mayor Bregović, and that this was stipulated by statute. He said that one could no longer obtain a report on the work. He asked that if everything was in order and if one was working transparently, why the citizens of the town and the council could not hear how the companies were working, adding the message: 'Return the reports and submit them to the City Council'.

Mayor Deni Kralj responded that they had already discussed the reports, and that there was a proposal to return the reports to the rules of procedure. He suggested that the HDZ council members submit such a proposal, with the explanation that if the council approved it, then it would be so. He stated that they had the opportunity, but had not seen the initiative, and that they should place the initiative as official, for if the council approved it, the reports would be. He stressed that the council was deciding on this.

The second question concerned road safety, specifically the safety of pedestrian crossings. Fašaiš said that he had received several queries from citizens and that accidents were occurring at these locations. According to the people involved, who unfortunately had problems, the reason was that the crossings were not adequately marked, and were not visible on the roads. As an example, he cited Dugo Selo, which has elevated crossings marked with red paint, which increases the safety of pedestrians, and asked what the mayor planned to do about this, and whether he would mark the crossings better and more adequately.

The mayor replied that all the zebra crossings in Dugo Selo were on county roads. Kralj told Fašai that he was an employee of the Zagreb County, and that he was at the college, and that he would be grateful if he would encourage and together with the head of the Horvat, the county, the deputy mayor and the director of the ŽUC to increase the safety on the county roads, as was done in Dugo Selo. He said that he did not know why it was done in Dugo Selo, but not in Vrbovec, and that he had asked Faš, as an employee of the County, to help him, and that he would publicly thank him for doing so.
