The open-air fire broke out last evening in the village of Draga in the municipality of Pakošt, specifically at the location of Vidikovac Čelanka. Croatian Fire Association confirmed that the Zagreb County Fire Department received a report of the fire starting at 21:00. The fire quickly engulfed grass and low vegetation, although the exact area of the burned area has not yet been determined.
A total of 44 firefighters participated in the fire-fighting operation, deployed in 16 vehicles. The public fire department of Biograd na Moru took part in the intervention, while the volunteer fire brigades of Draga, Sveti Filip and Jakov, and Pola provided support. The fire department of the Zadar County was also involved in coordinating and assisting in extinguishing the fire.
According to information from a reader of the portal Index, fireworks were launched at that location at 20:54. The reader stated that the fire broke out three minutes later, at 20:57, after the flare guns landed on the ground and ignited the surrounding vegetation. Firefighters arrived at the scene 13 minutes after the fire started.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire at 22:05. During the night, the fire site was monitored to prevent the fire from spreading further. The Facebook page of the Firefighters 193 shared footage of the start of the fire, which visually confirms the rapid spread of flames through the low vegetation.
After the fire was extinguished, Roof 68 commented that the most important thing was that everyone was safe. He added that he would not work for a while, which suggests possible temporary interruptions in activities related to that location or event organisation at the location.
