During the past weekend, 24 traffic accidents were recorded within the area of the Lika-Senjska police administration. Five people were seriously injured, while three sustained minor injuries. The police noted a significant number of traffic incidents and violations on local roads in this part of Croatia.
One of the most serious accidents occurred on Saturday, 25 July, at 02:52 in Novalja. A minor, under the influence of alcohol, was severely injured on a scooter. This incident stands out as the most tragic of those recorded over the weekend in the area.
The remaining accidents occurred at various times and locations within the jurisdiction of the local police. While most accidents resulted in only material damage or minor injuries, five serious injuries required immediate medical intervention.
The police continue to monitor traffic in the Lika and Senj regions, with a particular focus on preventing accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to observe traffic rules. The case of the minor on the scooter in Novalja is the subject of further investigation.
