Works on the fire station in the settlement of Unešić are proceeding according to the planned schedule, with no delays in implementation recorded. This investment is crucial for local capacity building, with the municipality allocating the sum of €1,203,533.07 for the project. Of the total project value, a significant portion, specifically €1,023,003.10, is secured through the 'Competitiveness and Cohesion' programme for the 2021–2027 period.
With the completion of these works, local firefighters will receive significantly improved working conditions, including adequate space for equipment and fire vehicles. This infrastructure upgrade is key to strengthening local capacity, creating a solid foundation for the protection of people, property, nature, and the general environment in the municipality.
The need for such investment has been further highlighted by recent events, as several fires have been recorded in the municipality. Although all incidents were addressed in a timely manner, with local firefighters successfully extinguishing the fires without major consequences, the situation underscores the need for continuous improvement in capacity. The area is increasingly being used for agriculture and grazing, with parts of it becoming overgrown, which increases the risk of rapid fire spread. Livestock farming, which previously helped maintain the area, is now expected to be revived through agricultural activities. This development will contribute to fire prevention, as well-maintained land reduces the risk of fire spread. The municipality of Unešić, under the leadership of Mayor Mark Parat, is not only improving working conditions but is also actively participating in preventing future hazards, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
