Šibenik restaurateur Davor Perković was taken to the police station after the Croatian State Inspectorate (Državna inspekcija RH, DIRH) closed his café due to established tax irregularities. Although the Šibenik Police did not wish to publicly disclose the identity of the arrested individual, they confirmed that a criminal investigation against Perković had been conducted and remains ongoing.
Unofficial sources indicate that Perković allegedly threatened employees of the Tax Inspectorate, prompting police intervention. Over the past 24 hours, the Šibenik-Knin Police Administration received one criminal complaint for the offence of threatening, and an appropriate criminal investigation linked to this complaint was carried out.
The incident occurred in the night following Croatia’s final match at the World Cup on 3 July. Perković’s café was open until midnight on that day, but the restaurateur left the premises 15 minutes before closing. Before departing, Perković ordered the waiters to close the establishment, where only two tables were occupied at the time.
According to available information, Perković received a call from the café at 01:22 informing him that the Tax Administration had arrived. The restaurateur then stated that he was unaware the café was still operating when he received the call. His mother, a qualified lawyer, issued a public statement regarding the incident.
Following his mother’s statement, Perković was due to be questioned within an hour. The case has attracted additional media attention due to Perković’s status as a restaurateur in Šibenik and the circumstances surrounding the conflict with the inspectorate.
