The joint sporting games for veterans and pensioners officially concluded with a blitz chess tournament. This competition marks the first organisation of its kind in history, creating a new format for bringing together the two communities.
The idea for holding such games originated directly from the County Committee for Veterans and the County Committee for Pensioners. Both bodies collaborated on the project's implementation to promote sporting activities among their membership.
The entire programme was held this year as part of the celebrations marking 5 August. The date was chosen because it is observed in Croatia as Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans Day.
In addition to the final chess tournament, participants competed in a total of three different sporting disciplines. The programme included the card game belot and darts, alongside chess as the third and final segment of the competition.
