The vocal ensemble Antiphonus and organist Tea Kulaš will meet again on the same stage. The penultimate concert of the 8th Zadar Organ Festival will take place on Monday, 21 September at 8:00 pm in the church of St Donatus.
The concert programme includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Arvo Pärt, Pēteris Vasks, and Fran Krežma. At the centre of the programme is Bach’s motet Jesu, meine Freude, while two Bach organ chorales will also be performed – O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß and Schmücke dich, o liebe Seel. The light design is by the Greek artist Hristos Tolis.
Tea Kulaš is an organist and musicologist. She graduated in organ from the Academy of Music in Zagreb in the class of Ljerka Očić, and has furthered her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz in the class of Gunther Rosta.
Antiphonus and Tea Kulaš previously performed together at the St Mary’s Church in Pašman, which marked the conclusion of this year’s Pag Art Festival.
The Zadar Organ Festival was established in 2019. Tea Kulaš performed in 2022 in the church of St Donatus in a programme linked to an exhibition of Zvonimir Brkan’s photographs. The following year, an interdisciplinary project, The Legend of Kópakonan, was staged in the same church, bringing together storyteller and actress Sanja Grgin, cellist and haldophone player Josiah Cieślak, and Tea Kulaš on the organ. The design of sound, projection mapping, and lighting was handled by Hristos Tolis, who has in recent years participated in the educational programme of the ZOF as a leader of a workshop for children and young people.
St Donatus’ Church is currently undergoing comprehensive restoration. Entry to the concert is free, with the option of a voluntary donation to support the work of the Zara Art Association.
