The full House of Hanibal Lucić hosted a charity concert on Saturday evening, organised by the Maška Hvar association, as part of the celebrations for Hvar Town Day. Numerous performers gathered with the aim of helping the street cats cared for by the association throughout the year.

Performers at the concert included the Faros Cantors and the Stari Grad Children's Choir, led by maestro Jakša Vranjanić, as well as the Klapa Priženca, led by maestro Ivan Vidošević, and the Stella Maris H, led by mistress Vinka Šurlin. The programme was completed by the KUD Jelsa, and the performance also featured Csilla Ódor and Flautando, namely Davorka Čović and Grace Conklin.

Maška Hva grew out of a civic initiative into a registered association that cares for the welfare of street cats in the area of Hvar. With the help of volunteers, they are involved in the rescue and care of sick and injured animals, their treatment, and sterilisation and castration. Part of the work is focused on educating children and raising awareness about responsible attitudes towards animals.

Funds raised at the concert will be used for the costs of veterinary care, treatment, medication and boarding. Maška H was established in 2021 as a civic initiative of people who were already looking after cats in their neighbourhoods, but this year the initiative has grown into an association.

During 2024, 237 cats were sterilised in the town of Hvar and a further 270 on the rest of the island, while in 2025, 255 cats were sterilised in the town of H and 278 on the rest of the island. 24 cats have found a new home this year. Options for free sterilisation and castration are available in the area of H and St. John's.
