Works on the comprehensive restoration of the Feštetić Castle in Pribislavce are entering their final phase, bringing to an end one of the key projects in the field of culture and tourism in Međimurje. The investment is worth more than €6.5m, with the aim of transforming this cultural heritage site into a modern interpretative centre dedicated to the Feštetić family and their historical legacy.

The project began in January 2025, with its management entrusted to the Public Institution for the Development of Međimurje County, REDEA. During the execution of the works, the team has faced numerous conservation and construction challenges, which was inevitable given that the restoration is taking place on a protected monument.

Due to circumstances dictated by technology, the original deadline for the completion of the project has been extended. Although the original plan envisaged the end of June as the completion date for the works, the complexity of the interventions on the protected building has required additional time to ensure expertise and adherence to conservation standards.

Following the reconstruction and adaptation, the castle will be granted a new function, including the installation of a museum exhibit. In addition to cultural content, the project includes the creation of accommodation facilities, opening up new opportunities for the development of tourism in the region.

The final appearance of the building includes a dedicated space for the presentation of local Međimurje cuisine. In this way, Feštetić Castle becomes a comprehensive destination that combines historical heritage, accommodation, and local cultural identity, offering visitors a unique experience in the heart of Međimurje.
