The city of Daruvar has been allocated €3,681,353.89 in grant funding for the revitalisation of Count Janković’s Park, one of the most valuable green spaces in the historic centre. Of the total amount, €3,129,150.80 comes from EU funds, under the 'Green Infrastructure Development in Urban Areas' call.
The funding decision was announced on 10 June at a ceremony attended by the mayor of Daruvar, alongside representatives from other towns whose green infrastructure projects had been approved.
The project involves a complete renovation of the park adjacent to the Count’s Palace, covering an area of nearly 28,000 square metres. Footpaths and staircases will be renovated, urban furniture installed, and safety and accessibility for all visitors enhanced. The park will feature more than 100 native trees and nearly 3,700 shrubs.
The applicant for the project is the City of Daruvar, with the application prepared by the local development agency in collaboration with the architectural firm Ascom-invest from Zagreb.
The city administration states that this investment continues the trend of investing in the quality of life, environmental protection, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The park adjacent to the Janković family palace is part of the historic core of the town, and its restoration, with its horticultural value, holds significance for future generations.
