The historic Stari Grad fortress in Sisak is currently undergoing significant transformation, with restoration works already underway. This project represents one of the key investments in preserving the city's cultural heritage, aiming to modernise the site and ensure the long-term stability of this cultural monument.
The financial framework for the project amounts to €24 million including value added tax. These substantial funds will enable comprehensive repair and revitalisation of the infrastructure within the fortress, ensuring that the historical identity of the site is preserved for future generations.
The funding source for this ambitious project is combined, coming from two important European and national instruments. Part of the funding has been secured through the European Union Solidarity Fund, highlighting the importance of this project within the broader European context of heritage preservation.
Additional funds have been secured through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO), which represents a key tool for Croatia's economic recovery and strengthening societal resilience. These two sources together cover the capital required to implement all planned interventions.
The funds were allocated via the Ministry of Culture, which oversees the implementation of the project to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with professional standards and legal regulations on the protection of cultural goods. The City of Sisak, as the project holder, is cooperating with relevant institutions to ensure the smooth execution of the works.
