A doctor is on duty at the emergency medical service in Kaštel Stari throughout the tourist season. The arrangement was jointly secured by the Municipality of Kaštela and the Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Split-Dalmatia County, with the municipality contributing more than €30,000 for the purpose.
The additional doctor is available from 15 June to 13 September, seven days a week from 10:00 to 22:00. The service is primarily intended for tourists and other visitors who may require medical assistance.
The measure aims to relieve the existing emergency medical teams, who can thus focus on acute and life-threatening conditions. Kaštela sees a significantly higher number of people during the summer compared to the rest of the year, and the pressure on the health service increases accordingly.
"The number of people in Kaštela increases significantly in the summer, and it is important that the health system can meet the increased demand," said the mayor, Denis Ivanović, thanking the director of the Institute, Dr Leo Lučić, and the head of the emergency department in Kaštel Stari, Dr Antonia Žanić, for their cooperation.
The municipality has allocated slightly more than €30,000 for this service, as it is important that both residents and all those staying in Kaštela feel safe, added Ivanović.
