In Požega, the eighth consecutive Bowling School has successfully concluded, a programme that brought together 25 participants from the first to the eighth grade. The event was organised by the Požega Sports Association and the Požega Nove Naden bowling club, with expert supervision provided by coaches Željko Lončar and Robert Bakić. The initiative’s aim was to promote the sport of bowling among the youngest participants while imparting fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge.
The school’s programme was designed to foster the overall development of children, rather than focusing solely on their sporting skills. Through exercises, participants developed their motor skills, while group activities contributed to strengthening the emotional, psychological, and social potential of those involved. This holistic approach ensured that the children acquired valuable life skills alongside a foundational knowledge of the sport through play and practice.
On the final day, diplomas were awarded to the participants, certifying the basic knowledge they had acquired. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Požega, Prof. Dr. Borislav Miličević, the president of the Nove Naden club, Darko Zvonko, and the secretary general of the Požega Sports Association, Željko Mitrović. Miličević congratulated the children on the completion of the programme and thanked the parents for their trust in the coaches and organisers.
The mayor highlighted the importance of the newly renovated bowling alley, expressing hope that the modernised facility would attract young bowlers. From this year, the venue will host first-division competitions, a development made possible by the efforts of the Nove Naden bowling club. This change further elevates the status of Požega as a hub for bowling in the region.
