Danny Rohl has left Rangers and officially joined the Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The 37-year-old manager is now working in the club's offices at the training ground in Taxham, which is located in the suburb of Salzburg. This move marks the end of his short but intense spell in Glasgow.
Rohl took over the reins at Rangers in difficult circumstances. When he took charge, the club was in sixth place in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) after just one win in eight matches played. Despite the initial difficulties, he managed to return Rangers to a title challenge during his eight months in charge.
However, the situation has recently become complicated. Four defeats in the last five matches have left Rangers in third place in the table. Although Rohl expected to continue working with the club, his departure was sealed. He learned of the interest from the Austrian club while on holiday in Hawaii in June.
Following his departure from Rangers, Rohl spent 12 months in a period marked by change. This period included a crisis at Sheffield Wednesday, a stay in Glasgow with Rangers and finally peace in Salzburg. Rohl now expresses satisfaction with his move to Red Bull Salzburg, considering it a good move for his career.
In Salzburg, Rohl plans to achieve concrete goals. He stated that he wants to win trophies with the new club. In addition to competitive ambitions, he is focusing on the long-term development, with the aim of helping the progress of young players in the academy.
Rohl's professional biography includes previous experience in German football. Before moving to Scotland, he worked as a coach under the guidance of Hansi Flick in Bayern Munich. This experience in one of the strongest European clubs has likely helped him adapt to the high standards required by Red Bull Salzburg.
