The Tourist Inspectorate of the Inspectorate is conducting enhanced inspections from 20 April to ensure the successful implementation of the 2026 tourist season. This measure is aimed at protecting lawful business, combating the shadow economy, and preventing unfair competition in the hospitality and accommodation market.
The inspections are primarily focused on identifying unregistered advertising on online platforms and preventing the provision of hospitality services in private households without the required registration. The planning of these activities was based on data collected from reports by tourist boards, as well as a detailed analysis and comparison of data from the Revenue Service with information available on online platforms.
By 20 July 2026, the Inspectorate has conducted a total of 1,441 inspections. Irregularities were identified in 122 cases, primarily the unregistered provision of services and illegal advertising of accommodation. As a sanction, houses, apartments, and hostels where violations of the regulations were found have been sealed.
Irregularities were recorded across a wide geographical area covering 18 locations. Among the locations where inspections were carried out are Jursin, Zagreb, Samobor, Bjelovar, Ogulin, Karlovac, Sisak, Primišlje, Sesvete, Dugo Selo, Koransko Selo, Nova Gradiška, Raspo, Bak, Jadrano, Dramal, Rab, and Pula.
