A formal reception for voluntary blood donors was held in Buje on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, during which milestone donors were presented with certificates of appreciation and commemorative gifts.
The event was attended by Bojana Puzigaća, president of the Buje City Council, Michela Altin, deputy mayor from the ranks of the Italian national minority, and representatives of the Buje Red Cross.
Special awards for 75 blood donations were presented to Zdravko Begić and Davor Kovačević, while Alen Marušić and Mario Marić were honoured for 50 blood donations. These milestone donors have had their contributions recognised at the local level.
The formal reception provided an opportunity to express gratitude to all voluntary blood donors for their humanitarianism, as well as to the Buje Red Cross Society for its dedicated work and contribution to the local community.
Alongside the award ceremony, the City of Buje highlighted the renovation project for the Studenca building to meet the needs of the Red Cross, which was submitted in August this year. In the event of a positive outcome to the co-financing competition, the renovation would ensure quality, functional and sufficiently spacious premises for the Red Cross and its numerous activities.
The future premises are expected to provide better conditions for working with citizens and blood donors, and to further encourage the inclusion of new donors in this important humanitarian activity.
