Gathering children on Strossmayer Square in Križevci, the Children's Week, which will last until Saturday, 10 October, has begun. Children from local kindergartens and primary schools have prepared messages for adults, which have been placed on the fence at Strossmayer Square, where they will remain for the entire week.
At the start of the event, the mayor, Tomislav Katanović, welcomed the children. He thanked them for their prepared messages and wished teachers, teachers, and professors a happy International Teachers' Day.
During the Children's Week, residents can look forward to a series of workshops, plays, and other activities. These include a creative workshop titled 'Recycle, Create, Protect Nature', a children's tea party, a workshop on volunteering, and a book exchange. Activities are also planned where children will visit the elderly, as well as community clean-up activities.
The first exchange is being organised by the local municipal company, Komunalno poduzeće Križevci, on Thursday. From 09:00 to 12:00, children's clothing and footwear, toys, picture books, board games, school and craft supplies, and other children's equipment can be exchanged. On the same day, children are treated to a free performance of 'Mida and the Little Bee, Police in Action' at the Croatian Home.
The programme concludes on Saturday with a traditional crawling race for babies. The competition is divided into two age categories, and a demonstration race will also take place, with parents and children crawling together. Registration for participation is required by 9 October.
The Children's Week will conclude with circus workshops, hula hoop, and a hoop roll, culminating in a large circus performance, 'LJETO VANJA' (Summer of Vanja). The performance will combine clowning, juggling, and aerial acrobatics.
