A Lika Club reader sent a photograph of water poured in central Gospić today at 12:00. According to his account, the water passed through a highly sophisticated filtration device with a Larq biochemical-bacteriological filter, and bacteriological treatment was carried out using UV-C radiation embedded in the purifier's "head" itself.

The reader stated: "This is shameful, organoleptically cloudy and undrinkable liquid." He added that he would like to be able to send this for biochemical and bacteriological analysis at an independent laboratory. He also wrote that the new filter was installed on 19 September.

According to the reader, particulate matter in the tap water amounts to 180 ppm, whereas in distilled water, which it "produces" from the same source, it ranges from 1 to 6.

Ličke Vodes informed consumers that due to extremely unfavourable hydrological conditions and a prolonged lack of precipitation, the water level at the Mrđenovac spring has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded. Due to current hydrological conditions, the spring itself has become cloudy.

Due to the cloudiness of the spring in the area of the City of Gospić and Ličko Osiko, the Zir rest area, and settlements located southeast of Gospić (Medak, Vrebac, Ostrvica, Bilaj, Barlete…), turbidity in the water supply network has increased. Ličke Vodes warn that water in these areas is not safe for consumption.

Ličke Vodes stated: "We are continuously monitoring the condition of the spring and the quality of the water, and are taking all necessary corrective measures, and we ask consumers for understanding and patience."
