The Municipality of Kostrena will once again provide high school students with a residence in its area with an 80-euro gift voucher for the purchase of textbooks, second educational material, and school supplies for this school year, Novi list reports.

The vouchers will be issued by the municipality from 3 August until the end of September, and are valid until 31 October at Narodne novine, Školske knjige, Hoću knjigu, and V.B.Z. bookshops. To claim the right, applicants must submit proof of residence and confirmation of enrolment for the 2026/2027 school year.

For pupils who have already purchased textbooks or supplies at another bookshop or online, the municipality will refund costs up to 80 euros per student, upon presentation of the original invoice and a request submitted no later than 31 October.

For primary school students residing in Kostrena, the municipality is procuring supplementary educational material this year — including sets of workbooks, art portfolios, geography atlases, and boxes for technical education — which will await them in their classrooms. First-graders will traditionally receive a 40-euro gift voucher. Children attending school outside of Kostrena are also eligible for free material, subject to a cost reimbursement request submitted between 15 July and 30 September.

The municipality will also refund the cost of monthly bus tickets for high school students who must attend practical lessons, exercises, or internships during July and August. Requests, accompanied by confirmation from the employer or school and proof of ticket purchase, must be submitted by 30 September.

The municipality has announced that it will continue to subsidise the difference to the full cost of monthly bus tickets for all regular high school students in the new school year.
